Forward-Facing Radar for height of obstacles and towers
Because altitude is an important factor in Forever Skies, I put together a concept for a forward-facing radar that reflects off towers to give their general height and distance.
This helps players by letting them see which towers are above their max altitude. In the mock-up, 280 is the max altitude and so the player could see that one tower is unreachable. The red 'X' every 10 degrees as well as the current/max altitude at the top both help convey this. There is also the "Dust" layer in the ~225m altitude range shown on the display.
This would be a 2-3 wide version of the radar. In the mock-up I only gave it a ~40 degree cone, but I would imagine this as being a 45 to 90 degree.
This would use already existing data for most of the information, with the only new data being the height of the tower's lowest area. I don't know if tower height is an easy variable to pull, but maybe you could pull the tower's average altitude based on the highest and lowest items when a tower spawns.

Great idea, this could be combined with the "upgraded helm" that others have requested, of course it should also be its own piece too. -

VuurHmmm... I kinda like both views. Perhaps, we could have both? Also, the height issue could be solved by marking towers that are too high in red or some other colour.

TydoriusMy intention was for us to have both, not to replace the current radar - Though I also just want more HUD items so I can make the cockpit/bridge of my airship feel more detailed.
