Additional Extractor Lock On Settings
There should be additional settings to customise the lock on/aim assist for the extractors. Here's what I'm thinking
-"On" or "Full" (as it's currently in the game)
-"Range" (locks on beyond an adjustable distance)
-"Smart" (Locks on as it currently is but if you pull away it lets go)
-"Off" or "Free" (no lock on)
The "Smart" setting might just be a good check box to have for the other 3 options. Additionally you should be able to change these settings between the Hand Extractor and the Deck Extractor individually

Vergeh MergedCurrent behaviour is very frustrating, especially when the auto-aim feature itself causes the connection to break repeatedly. Sometimes it happens so rapidly that the you cannot tell the connection is breaking until the object fails to dematerialize. This happens most frequently when targeting scrapwings, some of which will inexplicably rotate in place, making early response impossible.
Once a player has locked on to an item with the extractor, the connection should be more difficult to break. Minor collisions such as other floating debris, thin bars on wrecked windmills or scrapwing bodies should not break a connection once it has been formed.
Connection should only break in extreme circumstances, such as the player moving to place a wall between themselves and the object. Though in the absence of an alternative, failing to break in these circumstances (or at all) would not be a constant source of player annoyance and would break immersion less than the current behaviour.
