Extractor tool as upgrade or attachment to the Scanner
When playing the game I ultimately always have the scanner and extractor in my "loadout" I also find that I'm constantly having to switch between the scanner and the extractor, which can be a bit tedious at best.
I think it would be a good idea to have the extractor as an attachment to the scanner or as some sort of upgrade. I'm not saying there should be a advanced attachment system in the game. Just some way to combine the functionality of the scanner and extractor tool.
I've added all the affected systems that may be affected to the tags section.
Thanks for reading this!

AblewindSo to rudely build off/onto your suggestion?
Start the game with a suit/wrist mounted "Personal Data and Processor Device" or (PDPD) (Pee Dee Pee Dee) ( PD[squared] ).
And as the game progresses and players make discoveries and reach certain game or story milestones the PD^2 gets upgraded or the players learn/earn upgrades for it.
One of the FIRST being? An extractor module/system during the game tutorial.
1. Allow or make it a later upgrade that extracted objects and items are "automatically scanned/processed" if something is extracted for the first time.
2. With the recent update, the extractor can be upgraded. Allow upgrades for the scanner/PD^2 as well. Like: Increased extractor/scanner range, quicker extraction speed, a day/night/time indicator being added, and more.
3. Combine/link the charge pool for the extractor and the scanner together and allow the "hand pump" function to refill it for both. To scan uses up some charge, to extract uses charge. Pumping refills for both.
