Auto-sort items!
With all new things added.. it becomes more of a pain to sort my items in Storage-chests/freezer.
I catch myself making dump chests to sort out ''later''... So i figured to suggest a sort of auto-sorter/vacuum? Silly idea: a "relic/old world item'' like a vacuum or anything fun you have to find and scan and then craft...
It could be a silly item that looks like "decor" but you can dump all your findings in it and it will sort all the items for you in the right chest! Also would be awesome if the Deck-Extractor and Storage-chests/freezers gets an option to auto-sort or not.

JoanieeNo. just a place/chest to dump all and that will then auto-sort it for you. Just so you don't have to go to every storage chest you have and manually put items in there.. :)

LiberySo basically a bin where you dump it and then have a PC giving you the stuff?
Counterargument: we have that already. we have a store similar button. And a sort button. And enough boxes. If you build them with some thought you can easily manage your storage there. Also the building, crafting and so on already uses all the chests. So you can just drop the stuff whereever you like and see in any crafting screen the amount of material you have for the needed resources. You don't need to sort anymore -

JoanieeYeah just 1 dedicated storage place to dump all and it will auto sort for you.
I personally like neatly/dedicated sorted storage.
Can’t speak for others..
And with all the storage boxes we are adding with every update and to then have to “sort all button” in every storage chest you own. can get a little annoying. Especially when you hoard in games and have to “hide” storage containers so your build does not look too messy.
To me it makes more sense to have auto-sorting system in combo with the auto pull/craft. And just the fact that you can just “dump and go”. -

komeiji_koyomi Mergedwe needs a "store everything matched to ship inventories" button to manage those items, I'm tired to open every chests and tap "store similar" buttons

~Jas~ MergedI agree, however it would need to include an option on each storage box to NOT include it in a deposit-all. That way the various supplies you want to keep on you won't be getting thrown into storage all the time.
The game Grounded does this perfectly. There is a "hot deposit" keybind that throws everything you've got into nearby boxes that match their contents. But each box has a check mark option to exempt it. That way you can make sure your consumables and extra supplies you want to keep with you won't get deposited. Just keep those supplies in boxes marked as exempt from the quick deposit.
I love that Forever Skies has connected storage for crafting, making it so we don't have to keep all the crafting components in our inventories. That is huge. A deposit-all function (with optional exemptions) is the other half of the perfect inventory management QoL system. -

Resonance MergedPush one button and it would dump all my inventory into all the chests that have the similar items already. As is (unless there is a way I don't know of) I have to go to each storage individually and click 'store similar' and then go to the next and do it again and so on until either my inventory is clear or I go through them all and have stuff leftover.
If my chests are all connected for crafting, why can't they be for storing as well? It would make it so much easier to just dump my stuff all at once and head back in. -

AlexaI think this would be fixed better with a hotkey for auto-dumping, which is suggested in another thread.

darkfile2022 MergedPlease implement a module that automatically sorts found items into the crates.
Especially since the crate labels are no longer freely configurable (I understand the reason for this), searching for the right crate for the material has become worse rather than better.
As an example, I'd like to recommend the game Sunkenland. There, the developers—since the crate organization wasn't well-received by the community—eventually developed a storage robot that automatically moves everything placed in it to the next available stack of the respective items, or creates a new stack in the crate where the item is already located.
And if there's no more space for the item in a crate, it remains in the robot's input bin.
In principle, this would be nothing more than the reverse of the fabricator's collection function. -
