Please make Scrapwing Hatchery toggable
I really enjoyed the peaceful part of building my (safe) airship. Please make an option to disable them or at least don't let them destroy anything on easy difficulty. They really annoy me and don't add anything good or worthwhile to the game for me.

Psycho MergedPlease add an option to remove the flying creature. We already have debris and lighting to damage the ship. The flying creature will only get more annoying and harder to deal with as air ships increase in size and complexity. They also like to attack while in the middle of doing the virus activity, looking at research options, or otherwise afk.

PsychoAnother option that would make a story driven solution would be to have the flying creature only contain metal. Since flying metal is all but removed from the game already this would allow the filter extractor to be a sort of automated defense against them. The reason the filter doesn't work well against them currently is because flying synthetics fill it up and the flying creature is 2/3 synthetics. There could be any number of changes to work with this idea to include making the flying creature a new material that the filter can be set to, such as biomass, adding an automated defense canon (requires crystal batteries), or some sort of energy shield that could also protect against debris and lightning strikes.
Anything to negate this nuisance would be welcomed as I no longer feel as if my airship is my safe base and I want to spend more time landed somewhere and not on the airship itself to avoid these spawning. -

MalwareAt the very least it should not be able to catch up to an upgraded airship. The scrapwing isn't fun, it's not difficult... it's just... tedious. And they spawn way too often.

PraScrapwing Hatchery is definitely one of these things which should get a solution which makes you safe from them for good at some point. Some ideas:
- The hatchery, as suggested, cannot catch up to ships moving faster than a certain speed, so you can lose it by going full speed
- The deck extractor can be upgraded to an automated turret of sorts. This turret exclusively targets hatcheries and shoots them down. It does not require any power (or only very little), but also does not return any of the resources from the hatchery.
- You can build a "hull electrifier" or "ultrasonic emitter" or "pheromone emitter" or something like that. This is a device which just plainly blocks the hatchery. By making the hull emit EM waves or ultrasound or pheromones which the hatchery doesn't like, to it stays away, permanently. -

ChazusSo, part of it is... the scrapwing does not 'fly' to you. It is literally connected to the ship upon spawn and approaches it. The ship could be moving at light speed, and it would still pop up and gently float over. The mechanic for it approaching would need to be changed.

ArtanisAbsolutely agree, they add nothing and are just annoying. I would prefer if the only dangers to a free flying ship was weather and debris (at lower altitudes).

russellfireagree with posts, make scrap wing an option, i find them quite tedious, there's plenty to do with the latest upgrade and i don't need to be worrying about them taking chunks out of my airship. keep up the great work though

Lain inVerseI'd say we just need some automated defenses, so it'll annoy us in the early game and become a passive income on iron and synthetics in the late game. Maybe an alternate upgrade for the deck extractor to make it target only these guys and scrap the excess resources if full? Or just make automated deck extractor always target them no matter, is there a space for extra resources or not. Defending against this thing isn't even a problem, it's a tedious and completely unnecessary annoyance.

zeik_tuvaiAgreed, this needs to be an option to be toggled on and off. They were kinda cool at first, but once your airship grows to any size larger than a few rooms (especially with more than one deck) you end up running around like crazy trying to find it when you hear those dreaded words "A flying creature approaches the airship".
It's just so tedious, I have minimized the amount of catwalks on my ship because of that. It reminds me of the shark Bruce in raft, which was also a nuisance however; once you upgraded your foundations to the metal reinforced ones he couldn't do anything to you anymore.
