Multiple rudders and ability to craft Rudder controller at Ship workstation
We need option for having multiple "cockpits", especially for large ships. For example one rudder for cruising between locations (in front of the ship), another for landing (below) and third for docking (near the docker).
Please add an option for 3d printing of rudder to ship workstation! Blueprints for it could be found at some location like surface lift tower.
Should be easy to implement :)

Greg | Community Manager AdminThings are not as easy as you might think.
A lot variable issues could raise with more than 1 rudder.
However, an option to create a new Rudder is a good shout.
Lets see what others think :) -

KurasuMultiple rudders could be interesting, but I also understand why it would be difficult to implement, due to 'Which way is the ship facing?' if rudders are rotated.
However, considering how varied different parts of the ship are, being able to print the rudder *in different forms* would turn this from a 'Yeah, I guess' to 'OOooooo you now have my attention'.
Can you imagine a 'Bloom Rudder', with patterns to match your ship's bloom walks/cockpit? A 'Modern rudder'? Something more steampunk looking? You could just name the first one you find 'Old Rudder' and even encourage some 'snazzing up' later that way. -

D.QuixoteAgreed that every change takes lots of testing and impact analysis. Also true that everything seems simple to those who are not familiar with it :)
Lets start with minimal scope - eg. just one more rudder that can not be rotated...
OR
One rudder could be the main rudder, one and only. Others, secondary ones, could be crafted at workstation and could have different functionalities and designs. etc... -

Lucas ReichIt would be nice to be able to use a upper rudder in my crafting area, like a cargo ship up in the air. then when close go to the one in very front for docking.

Baldurv1.7.1 Build #35592
Building and placing multiple Helms is now possible.
All will point to same direction.
But only oldest one is actually usable at most times.
You can enter any of them, but only one seems to be usable and affect the ship.
Sometimes I can get multiple to work until next save-reload by picking up and redeploying them.
But having all active at all times would be nice, so I don't need to just have one placed, and move it around to different places for docking vs. cruising etc.
With first to be activated when in multiplayer being the one active?
